Artist Statement

Seeds, pods, plants and growth fascinate me. I have created my own versions of these organisms with my current body of work. I try to utilize textures and colors that appear in nature and translate them into different mediums such as blown glass, paper, clay, and metal. I find that by using the differences between each medium, and playing them against each other I can create a new and beautiful form of the seed, pod, or plant. This form is my own interpretation of what I have seen or imagined, they are sometimes much larger than life, or on a similar scale with their original. But they are very permanent versions of the organisms, and I hope that when seen, they will allow the viewer to contemplate the beauty and narrative of growth in nature.
