Artist Statement Ryan Orewiler was raised in the German Village district of Columbus, Ohio. Settled in the late 1800's the beauty of German Village's brick streets and homes influenced his admiration of historic neighborhoods and architecture. Orewiler graduated from Columbus College of Art and Design where he studied illustration and painting. He is inspired by all forms of art especially contemporary paintings. Although he is known for his cityscapes from his travels, he enjoys the challenge in creating abstracts. He says that, "I have always been intrigued with contemporary paintings throughout history. There are many forms of expressing and concepts I admire. I enjoy creating different series of abstracts mainly because there is knowledge in exploring that could merge with my cityscapes. Along with my cityscapes technicalities, the abstracts express new chapters in my life."
