I have been a laborer, a manager, a student, a teacher, a scientist, an artist, rural, urban, worked in factories, farms, and offices.  I have been to many states, countries, and continents.  Through this mix I have developed an awareness of the world, the mood of places, and the nuances of people's lives.  I strive to craft art that conveys the internal component of our being.  We are aware of the existence of billions of lives, there are thousands we know only in passing, many we know a little of, many less that we know well, and perhaps none we know completely.  Our lives intersect with many full yet unknown beings.

My work starts with visual cues that capture my eye for even a fleeting moment but leave an indelible impression.  I continuously see colors, geometry, contrasts, and scenes that intrigue me.  My paintings start with either sketches of scenes done on site, sketches from  imagination, or digital images I take.  From these quick studies, all elements such as color, composition,. and extent of detail are scrutinized and altered to create the mood I sensed when I first encountered the scene.  The value of every element in a painting is relative to the surrounding components.  I relentlessly pursue a cohesive final product that interweaves all elements.
