Glass

My current interest in sculptural art focuses on social structures and behavior within architecture and popular culture and how these systems affect our worldview. These two highly engineered aspects of society influence our identities, philosophies and much of our daily existence. I like to create situations that combine pop icons and symbols into interactive spaces engaging the viewer to ask questions regarding their role in adapting and responding to the overtly commercial and subtle ergonomic strategies within pop culture.

I have been working with glass and different materials in my art as well as experimenting with different concepts, experiential qualities, overlapping imagery, juxtaposing materials and symbols.

Glass is an important element to my work because of its qualities of fragility, strength, preciousness, transparency, and utility. Equally, it references associations in religion, craft and history. These dichotomies present a position in my work that I feel is important for the viewers to ask questions about themselves and about our culture.
